This year reaffirmed what GAGGA has demonstrated over the past decade: when resources, trust, and decision-making power are placed in the hands of women-led and community-rooted organizations, transformative change follows. Across the Global South, our partners continued to advance climate and gender justice in increasingly challenging contexts, reaching more than 2.2 million people and demonstrating the power of investing in local leadership and collective action.
The theme of this report, Holding the Line, Shaping the Future, reflects the reality facing our movements today. Women-led organizations and Women Environmental and Human Rights Defenders continue to confront escalating climate impacts, biodiversity loss, shrinking civic space, conflict, and attacks on gender equality, while advancing community-rooted solutions that protect ecosystems and build more just and resilient societies.
