Policy Brief: Dismantling the Gender, Conflict, Climate Nexus

At the Crossroads of Gender, Conflict and Climate: A Call for Feminist Action

Women, girls, and gender diverse communities, especially those from Indigenous, Afro descendant, and rural territories, are on the frontlines of intersecting climate, conflict, and gender injustices. In response, this new GAGGA policy brief brings together their lived realities, sharp case studies, and bold and actionable recommendations for funders and decision makers.

Rooted in the voices and experiences of grassroots movements in Brazil, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Nigeria, and the Philippines, the brief shows how land defense, climate resilience, and feminist organizing are deeply connected. It calls for urgent shifts in funding structures to truly support transformative and locally led solutions.

Read it, use it, and join us in moving resources where they are most needed, to the movements already leading the way.
