Save the Date: Making finance for gender just water and climate solutions a reality!

The UN Water Conference is an important event that brings together stakeholders from around the world to discuss water and climate solutions. This year, GAGGA is organizing a side event during the conference that you won’t want to miss!

On Thursday March 23rd, from 1.15 -2.30 pm (EDT) , GAGGA will present their commitment to support, finance, and promote locally rooted, gender just climate and water solutions within the Water Action Agenda. This event will inspire other stakeholders to join in their commitment, while presenting inspiring examples of such solutions presented by local women from Nepal, Kenya, Paraguay, Mexico, and Nigeria.

The event will be hosted in Midtown West Luxury Business Center; Conference Room I (6th Floor); 1441 Broadway 3rd, New York City, NY 10018, which is a 20 minutes walk or 14 minutes by metro from the UN headquarters. The session will have English-Spanish translation available, and will be co-hosted by the Government of Chile, and Women Engage in a Common Future (WECF).

The session will be an interactive dialogue with government representatives and philanthropic donors on the best ways to support and resource gender just water and climate solutions. Some of the inspiring stories from local women will be featured in short videos, narrated by the women from the communities themselves. These videos will be officially launched on March 15th, as part of GAGGA’s annual We Women are Water Campaign.

Panelists:

  • Pilar Andrea Barria Sandoval, Advisor for Water at the Ministry of Environment of Chile
  • Omer van Renterghem, Theme Expert Land, Water and Ecosystems in the Inclusive Green Growth Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Netherlands
  • Dr Bapon Fakhruddin, Water Resources Management Senior Specialist, Division of Mitigation and Adaptation, Green Climate Fund

Moderation: Dr. Priscilla Mbarumun Achakpa, Women Environmental Programme Nigeria

This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in gender just climate and water solutions to learn more about what is happening on the ground, and how they can support these initiatives. We hope to see you there!
