(Lau) Mar (she/they) is a gender non-conforming feminist, passionate about the protection of human rights, the environment, and common goods, living in Cota, Colombia with their two kittens. As an anthropologist and specialist in feminist studies from the National University of Colombia, she has supported several community-based organizations working at the intersection of women’s and gender non-conforming people’s rights and environmental justice, and developed experience in areas such as collective knowledge production, grantmaking, and convening at regional and global levels, as well as self and collective care. During the last few years, Mar worked as a programs coordinator and member of the collective leadership team at Urgent Action Fund- Latin America and the Caribbean, and as an independent consultant for FCAM on several feminist research projects. A believer in the power of the arts for healing and social transformation, Mar is a Samba dancer and co-founder of two batucadas (Afro-Brazilian percussion collectives) and is currently learning Dance/Movement Therapy. Mar is vegan and learning from anti-speciesist feminism, and enjoys being surrounded by nature, trying new recipes, and exploring the tarot as a therapeutic tool.
