Welcome Lola M. Silva, Our New Communication Strategist

Lola M. Silva is a journalist, media strategist, and gender justice advocate based in São Paulo, Brazil. With a background in international media, feminist advocacy, and movement building, she has spent over a decade shaping narratives that challenge injustice and amplify marginalized voices.

Lola began her career as a war correspondent, covering gender struggles and political conflicts for international media outlets. Her reporting laid the foundation for her transition into advocacy, where she played a key role in queer feminist movements across Africa and the SWANA region.

Lola’s expertise extends to transnational feminist storytelling and knowledge production. She led the Transnational Embodiment project, a collaboration between Kohl and AWID, exploring the intersections of gender, migration, and body politics. She also co-founded the JUNTES Transfeminist Coalition in 2023 to strengthen trans feminist agendas worldwide. From 2022 to 2024, she produced and hosted “That Feminist Fire,” AWID’s podcast in collaboration with Hueman Group Media, fostering conversations on gender justice, activism, and resistance.

With a background in psychology, fine arts, and international media, Lola holds two master’s degrees in Cultural and Creative Industries and Information Mobilization. She has contributed to Global Voices on queer migration and exile and serves as an Executive Board Member for ILGA, FRIDA, and KOHL. Fluent in multiple languages, she brings a transnational perspective to media strategy and advocacy.

Through her work, Lola remains committed to building intersectional movements, reshaping dominant narratives, and using media as a tool for liberation.
